Former Jacksonville resident, Glenda Johnson Hughes, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday September 22, 2015. She was born in Cabot, Arkansas on September 6, 1939 and lived in the Cabot – Jacksonville area until four years ago when she made the decision to relocate to Freeport, Florida. Glenda opened the medical imaging department at Rebsamen Memorial Hospital (currently known as North Metro Medical Center) in 1962 and worked there until her retirement 45 years later. She was an active member of the community, driven by a strong desire to serve others, and an avid Razorback fan. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Hughes Adamson and David Adamson of Freeport, Florida; her sister, Nikki Dodd, of Jacksonville; and her niece, Johni Dodd Bursee of Rogers, Arkansas. Glenda touched the lives of so very many and was fortunate to have been loved by a countless number of devoted friends. She was fearless in her approach to life - living to the fullest, loving whole-heartedly, and laughing often. She will be missed more than words can express. "To live in the hearts of those left behind is not to die." - unknown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
