LOIS PERRY, age 100, passed away Friday April 1, 2016. Lois was a resident of Chenal Rehab and Healthcare in Little Rock. She was born to Ira and Maude Meriwether in Piggott, Ark., on May 28, 1915. She was predeceased by her parents, husbands, Mike Porter of Hoxie and Little Rock and Russell Perry of Trenton, N.J., sister, Velma Butler of Celina, Texas, brother, James R. Meriwether of Memphis, and son, Michael Jerry Porter of Memphis. Lois is survived by her son, Jim Porter of Little Rock, daughter-in-law, Kylnn, grandchildren, Cole Porter, Kyle Porter, Kaye Hook of Memphis and Southaven, Miss. and Lauren Porter of Little Rock, as well as eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nephew, Bob Jones (Shirley) of Bedford, Texas and niece, Paula Mann of Celina, Texas. Lois lived a long, full life, being the quintessential caregiver and doting grandmother for her grandchildren in their younger years. In later years she was a live-in caregiver in Red Banks, Miss. before moving to Memphis. After many years in Memphis, Lois moved back to Little Rock where she lived at several retirement homes and finally with her son, Jim, until failing health required the assistance of Chenal Rehab. Special thanks to Jamie and the staff at Chenal for the excellent care and compassion they showed to Lois and her family. Lois was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church while in Little Rock. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, officiated by Dr. Randy Hyde.
