Bobbie Jean Tiner Joyce, 68, of Pine Bluff, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Hospice Inpatient Home Care in Little Rock. Mrs. Joyce was born June 16, 1947, in Pine Bluff, to the late Robert M. Tiner and Ervie Belle Harris Tiner. She was reared and received her education in the White Hall School District where she graduated from White Hall High School in 1965. After high school, she attended Arkansas State University and graduated in 1969. She began her teaching career in Pine Bluff in the Dollarway School District, where she taught for 37 years, retiring in 2006. During her teaching career, she went on to receive her Master's Degree from Ouachita Baptist University and a Master's Degree in Library Media from the University of Central Arkansas. Mrs. Joyce loved to travel and because of her love of history was privileged to visit Egypt, Greece, France, and Italy. She also was able to travel through New England and Washington D. C. Just about any state in the United States with historical significance was on her bucket list. Bobbie also traveled with a t group throughout the south and southwest-where the question always arose…."Who are we waiting on?"……she was going to read every word on every marker…to the sometimes frustration of her traveling companions. She was always ready to go…no matter where…but never on time for departure. We jokingly said, "Bobbie's going to be late for her own funeral!!!" Bobbie was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church, Sigma Nu Sorority Chapter # 4713, the Jefferson County Retired Teachers' Association, and the Dollarway Teachers' Lunch Bunch. She is survived by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Tiner (Ricky) Mobley of Redfield; her companion of 25 years, Rick Ponder of Pine Bluff; two nephews, Brian and Brad Mobley and four grandnieces and nephews. These nephews and their children were just as much hers as Mary's since she had no children of her own. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jimmy D. Joyce, all of Pine Bluff, and one grandnephew, Ryan Henson Mobley of Redfield. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 7, 2016, 6 to 8 p.m., at Robinson's. Funeral services will be Friday, January 8, 2016, 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson with Reverend Allen Elkins officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to Pine Bluff Humane Society, Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS in Little Rock, or Hospice Inpatient Home Care in Little Rock.
