Erma Lee Altom

Erma Lee Altom was present when the roll was called up yonder on Jan. 17, 2016 as she took her place beside her heavenly Father. Erma fought a courageous battle with Leukemia of which she eventually succumb too. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie E. Altom of Judsonia; son, David Ray Altom of Searcy; two grandchildren, Tracy Holloway of Searcy and Brian David Stephenson of Judsonia. She was one of 10 girls born to her parents, Elmer and Myrtle Hynds of Kensett. Also preceded her were her sisters, Bertha Beck of Searcy, Vera Ray of Little Rock, Velma Simpson of Little Rock, Aleata Hynds of Kensett, Viola Price of Searcy and Evelyne Miller of Jacksonville. She is survived by her son, Danny Joe Altom and (Pat) of Fargo, Danna Vinson and (Frank) of Judsonia; two grandchildren, Shelly Williams and April Altom, both of Brinkley; several great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. In addition the Altoms ran many businesses in Kensett including a beauty shop, cafe, pool hall, fish market and Sinclair Station. Erma retired from Leasure Lodge Nursing Home where she was the food service supervisor for 30 years. Graveside services will be announced at a later date. Contact: 501-593-3361.
