John Patrick Joseph Rowen

John Patrick Joseph Rowen, MD, FACS, FRCSC. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of John Rowen. Left to mourn him forever are his devoted and loving wife Trish and his beloved daughters, Jennifer (Craig), Katie (Ryan) and Julia (Nick), as well as sisters, Barbara (Bob Culligan), Julie and Ann. He will be lovingly remembered by nieces, Charlotte (Al Gibilaro) and Elizabeth (Brodie Reid) and other nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by his proud mother Betty Rowen and friend Uncle Louis Soros. John was born in Brantford, Ontario. He earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry at McMaster University in Hamilton, then attended medical school at the University of Toronto. He continued there with a four-year residency program in general surgery followed by a fellowship in thoracic surgery in Birmingham, England. Dr. Rowen was in private practice for 30 years and had been working in the Middle East for the last few years. John Rowen lived and loved a whole life in a short time. We will all miss him deeply. The family will receive friends at the "Thorpe Brothers' Funeral Home and Chapel" 96 West Street, Brantford on Friday June 17th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 133 Murray Street on Saturday, June 18th at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow.
