Opal Ellen Staats

Opal Ellen Staats, 75, a long-time resident of Wichita, Kan. died at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice on Sunday, May 15, 2016. She was born August 25, 1940 in Kingston, Ark. She was a wonderful teacher, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She loved nature, gardening, animals, and cheering on the Shockers. She lived fully and loved freely. She now rests in God's garden. She leaves her loving husband, Ray; her sons, Sean and wife Nina, Karl and wife Rose, Rion and wife Samantha, Noel and fiancée Heather. She leaves three grandchildren; Connor, Kevalin, and Cameron. There will be a public viewing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Downing and Lahey Mortuary West, 10515 W. Maple in Wichita, Kan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 West 21st Street North in Wichita, Kan. Opal will be interred at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Bucklin Cemetery, Bucklin, Kan. A memorial has been established with Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
