Glen Allen Turney

Glen Allen Turney was born Jan. 31, 1925 in North Little Rock, Ark., and died peacefully at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Ark., on May 20, 2016 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents Civil "Red" Turney and Sybil Ward Turney. He served proudly aboard the "Prince Georges" Naval Ship in the Pacific in World War II. He then worked for the postal service delivering the mail in Higden, Ark., for 35 years. He worked diligently to assure the continuance of Higden when Greers Ferry Lake took "Old Higden" until it was successfully relocated. He was a devoted member of Holiday Hills Methodist church. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma of 69 years, one son, Allen Turney (Lana) of Heber Springs, one daughter, Anna Turney of Higden, two brothers, Gene Turney of Higden and Gray Turney of Heber Springs. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chris Summerhill of Brussels, Germany, Carissa Tarkington (Michael) of Conway, Matt Turney ((Nikki) of Heber Springs and Kenna Lee (Tim) of Springdale, eight grandchildren, Michael, Wesley, Hope, Luke, Sophia, Lauren, Parker and Colton besides other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Holiday Hills Methodist Church in Greers Ferry by Rev. Dan Brand.
