Mike Smith, of Little Rock, Arkansas, a decorated War Hero in the Vietnam War, passed peacefully away, Tuesday, August 30, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Lt. Colonel Clyde Smith of Jacksonville. A memorial service with full military honors, will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, Friday, September 2, at 2 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the Welcoming Hall. He is survived by his wife, Robin Ratley Smith and his children, Piper Keizer Smith (Jonny), Molly Smith Querdibitty, (Jonathan) of Little Rock, and Melody Naifeh Thomas (Steven), of Bella Vista. He was the proud grandfather of Avonley Naifeh, Bailey Thomas, Flora Thomas, and the latest addition, Selma June Querdibitty. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Smith and Melinda Smith, both of Texas. While serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970, Mike was awarded the highest of honors for service to his country. He received four Bronze Stars for Bravery, the Purple Heart, two Metals of Honor and many more. After three tours of duty as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, Mike returned to Arkansas and enrolled at the University of Arkansas where he joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. During his years at the University, Mike enjoyed all of his Kappa Sigma brothers, grand times at the Swinging Door, but most of all meeting the love of his life, Robin Ratley Smith. They were married for 40 years, July 31, 2016. He was also a successful CPA before he became co-owner of Miss Selma's School in 1987. A friend to many, a stranger to none, Mike loved his life, his family, his friends, and his dogs. He will be missed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan Querbiditty, Jonny Keizer, Steven Thomas, John Porter, Charlie Porter, Henry Saine, Larry Wilson, Robert Porter, Olin Wage, and Michael Winslow.
