Norman H. Stein

Norman H. Stein, died on September 7, 2016. He was 66 years old. Norman grew up in a East New York housing project and used that knowledge of the lives of poor people to propel his career. He was an outstanding law teacher, advocate, parent and spouse. After graduating from Brooklyn College (1971) and Washington College of Law at American University (1974) he began his legal career at Community Legal Services in Philadelphia. He then began his decades long career as a law teacher at Penn Law School, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Hofstra Law School, Brooklyn Law School and as a teacher of lawyer bargaining for over two decades at American University Law School. He was a beloved teacher and friend. He met his wife Shervl Dicker at legal services in Philadelphia. Norman was also a leader of the Jewish community, serving on the jewish outreach effort for President Bill Clinton and former Senator Hillarv Clinton's campaign, as well as President of the New York Chapter of AJC and a board member of Bet Am Shalom Synagogue. Norman is survived by his wife, Shervl Dicker and his children, Max Stein (Krista Jensen) and his daughter, Beckv. The funeral will take place Friday, September 9th at 11 a.m. at Bet Am Shalom Synagogue, 295 Soundview Ave., White Plains, N.Y. Burial will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 7800 Mvrtle Ave., Glendale, N.Y. 11385. Shiva will be observed at 535 Alda Road, Mamaroneck, N.Y. as follows; Friday afternoon following the burial, and Sunday through Wednesday.
