Jan Carithers

Jan Carithers, age 54, of Wichita passed away on December 22, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Memphis and grew up in Savannah, Tenn., and Crossett, Ark. She graduated from Crossett Senior High School; and received a B.S. degree in business from Southern Arkansas University. After college she managed Kmart stores in Shreveport, Austin and Birmingham. After moving to Wichita, she started her career with INTRUST Bank, where she worked as Vice President of the card center, later becoming a Business Development Relationship Manager for the bank. She treasured her INTRUST Bank co-workers and her customers. Jan was a member of Junior League of Wichita, served on the Board of Directors of Women's Initiative Network, Wichita Chamber Ambassador, and involved with several Wichita Chamber event committees. Jan is survived by her son, Payne of Wichita; her parents, John and Jean Turner of Arlington, Va.; her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Dan Carter of Little Rock, Ark.; her nieces, Catie Thacker of Memphis and Christen Carter of Little Rock; great-niece, Elaine Thacker of Memphis; and stepchildren, Kendall and Cole Carithers of Houston, Texas. She leaves behind a host of dearly loved friends, including Jan's Team, who were an important part of her support during her illness. Special thanks to the doctors and medical team at Cancer Center of Kansas, Via Christi Hospital, Comfort Keepers, and Interim Health Care. Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017, at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E. 1st St. N, Wichita, Kan. 67214.
