H. Pearl Wade, age 96, of Little Rock, known to her family as "Nannie," passed away February 25, 2017. Pearl was born in Corley, Arkansas on April 3, 1920 to Jonas and Zora Goodson, the eighth of 11 children. She is survived by her only surviving sister, Mary Ruth Rafe of Little Rock; daughter, Neta Avery, also of Little Rock; grandsons, Brett Avery (Debby) of Sherwood and Bart Avery (Connie) of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Avery, Brittney Fulmer and Drake Avery; three great-great-granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William "Bub" Price Wade, nine of her siblings and her son-in-law, Jack Avery. Pearl was employed at Southwestern Bell/AT&T in the Traffic Department from 1945-1979. For over a twenty year period prior to her retirement, she was selected by SWBell/AT&T to work at the State Capitol while the legislature was in session. Following her retirement, she continued for some time to work during the legislature sessions. To this day, her pictures hang in the halls of the State Capitol. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Pearl loved to quilt with her group of quilting friends at the church. During their years of marriage, she and Bub loved to go fishing and spend time at their cabin in DeValls Bluff. Pearl loved working on her lawn and tending to her flowers. She also loved to cook. Pearl was an amazing, beautiful, independent lady who took great pride in her appearance. Until her stroke, she lived independently, doing her own housework, cooking and anything else she felt needed to be done. In fact, she had cornbread in the oven and soup on the stove when she sat in her chair and had a massive stroke on February 19th. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lotla and Dr. Hillary Williams at UAMS and all of the staff in the ER and ICU for all of their special care of our loved one. Services will be Wednesday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Pearl's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
