GARNETT LOUISE DONNELLY, 82, of Jacksonville, Ark, died Jan. 4, 2017 after suffering a stroke Nov. 21, 2016 and remaining hospitalized until one day before her death. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, John A. Donnelly, her son, James L. Reid, of Cabot, Ark., her son David G. Reid and his wife, Teresa Reid, of Jacksonville, Ark., and her daughter Denise Reid Hoggard and her husband Glen Hoggard, of North Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Donnelly was born Jan., 20, 1934 in Jackson, Miss., to William Luther Underwood and Cassie Eva Underwood. She had one brother, the late Carlton Dale Underwood, and one sister, the late Hortense Underwood. She was married to former Mayor James G.Reid, for 32 years. She worked at the Jacksonville Senior Citizens Center, Citizen Bank of Jacksonville, and the Little Rock Air Force Base Credit Union. She graduated high school in Jackson, Miss., and lived in Alabama, France, Texas, and Hawaii before making Jacksonville her home. She was an avid gardener who loved making her backyard a showcase filled with plants she brought home from special places she traveled or from people she loved. She was a gifted artist in multiple mediums. She was a long time member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mrs. Donnelly enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Santiago, Chile, with her husband, John, to visit his family. Her family and friends considered her to be fun-loving, a great story-teller, intelligent, creative, articulate and meticulous. She made everyone feel welcome and at home when with her. She is also survived by grandchildren: Lawren Amber Aycock; Eva Lindsey Wojcik; Lacy Jenae Copley; Jared Lucas Reid; Bonnie Joy Spitler; Reid Henry Hoggard; Andrew Harrell Hoggard; 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Ida Underwood. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 8 from 2-4 p.m. at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Road, Jacksonville, Ark. Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Ark. Entombment will follow in Chapel Oaks Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation to Second Baptist Church. The family also appreciates the doctors, nurses, therapist who helped care for Mrs. Donnelly at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, Baptist Health Medical Center, and Hospice Home Care.
