Billy J. Mathis

Billy J. Mathis, 79, of North Little Rock passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017. He was born June 23, 1937 in Hasty, Arkansas to Hoyl and Thelma Morrow Mathis. He was a member of Crystal Valley Baptist Church for 50 years. Billy was retired from Old Dominion Box Company after 46 years and was an announcer for Maumelle Saddle Club for rodeos and horse shows. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lilly Gregg Mathis; daughters, Debby Eckl (Roger) of North Little Rock, Lisa Catlett (Chuck) of Havana, Arkansas, Marcy Davenport (Roger) of Lonoke and Brittany Miranda (Alberto); grandchildren, Erica DeFoor (Phillip), Ryan Eckl (Andrea), Darby Jackson (Ben), Megan Scott (Allen) and Leo Miranda; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray Mathis and Leon Mathis and his sister, Joyce DeRouchey. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Mathis and sister, Evelyn Spalinger. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 19th followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.
