Rev. Robert Sivils

The Reverend Robert Sivils of Arkadelphia is now enjoying music in Heaven as of August 6th, 2018. He was born November 17th, 1929 to Jesse and Myrtle Sivils in their home in Wilmot, Arkansas. Robert was the oldest of four sons as Leon, Stanford and Roy followed. He was a retired Southern Baptist Minister having been the pastor at Gum Springs Baptist Church and Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Benton, Arkansas, Anderson Chapel in Dumas Arkansas, Loch Arbor Baptist in Monroe Louisiana, First Baptist Church in Waterproof Louisiana and Hill Baptist Church in Oak Grove Louisiana. He is survived by Mary Jo Armstrong Sivils whom he married on October 21, 1949 at Victory Baptist Church near Cora's Bluff Louisiana. Mary Jo taught school for over 40 years in Benton Arkansas, Dumas Arkansas, and Bastrop Louisiana. They were also very active in gospel music having sung or recorded with the Messengers, The Harbingers, Joyful Noise and the Sivils Quartet. The Sivils Quartet was inducted into the North Louisiana Gospel Music Hall of Fame in October of 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a brother, Leon Sivils. Robert and Mary Jo are the parents of three surviving sons: Robert Edward Sivils Jr. and wife Dee of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Paul Harvey Sivils and wife Jennifer of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and Charles Timothy Sivils and wife Amy of Three Rivers, Michigan. They have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 10th, 2018 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop, Louisiana. www.coxfuneral.com.
