Richard Hay McKinney, Jr. died on January 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Dickie was born January 8, 1946 to Ann Plunkett McKinney and Richard Hay McKinney, Sr. in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dickie was predeceased by his mother and father, Ann P. and Richard H. McKinney, his first wife, Mary Keatts Cox McKinney, his son, Richard H. McKinney III, his sister, Ann "Bebe" McKinney Deal, brothers-in-law, Pinkney M. Deal and Frank Preston Hall Jr., and beloved grandparents, Annie Holmes and Charles Plunkett and Theda and Roy McKinney. He is survived by his son, Frank Cox McKinney, wife, Shannon Gorman McKinney, grandson, Keatts Gorman McKinney and his sister, Marilyn "Tinsy" McKinney Hall. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Debbie Deal Wyman, Elizabeth Deal Miller, Frank Preston Hall III and David McKinney Hall. You could hear Dickie coming, and he could light up a room. Dickie was notorious for his big laugh and living life to the fullest. He loved cooking, fishing, hunting and spend-ing summers on Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine. Like his mother, he really loved playing gin. He was a collector of friends, and his friendships spanned many genera-tions. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Country Club of Little Rock. Dickie enjoyed a 40+ year career in real estate starting at Rector Phillips Morse, where he was a member of the Million Dollar Club several times before becoming sales manager for the company. He and Larry Taylor opened the doors of McKinney & Taylor in 1976. After a lengthy selection process, in 1983, Coldwell Banker selected him to become their independent broker in Little Rock, establishing Coldwell Banker McKinney & Co. as the first franchise for Coldwell Banker in the state of Arkansas. In 2002, Dickie returned and finished his career at Coldwell Banker RPM. He was highly respected in his field for his real estate knowledge as well as his mentoring and training of many Little Rock realtors who have become successful realtors in their own rite. Dickie was a member of the National Association of Realtors, Arkansas Realtors Association and the Little Rock Realtors Association. He was a member of the Little Rock Jaycees and while serving as President, was instrumental in opening the first prison chapter of Jaycees at Tucker prison, one of the first such programs in the country. He was also a member of Rotary International Club #99. Dickie's love of the Little Rock community included organizing years of toy drives benefiting Toys for Tots. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Dean Kumpuris, Dr. Andrew Kumpuris, Dr. Stephen Tucker, Teresa Perkins and Arkansas Hospice for their loving care of Dickie during his last days. Celebration of Dickie's life will be held Friday, February 2 with a 10 a.m. graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park followed by a service at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive at 11 a.m. Family visitation will be held Thursday, February 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Country Club of Little Rock.
