Shirley Nadine Southworth

Shirley Nadine Southworth, age 83, of Paron passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was born July 2, 1935 in Paron, Arkansas to Earl Lambert and Lovie (McDonald) Lambert. She married Von (Tubin) Southworth on April 24, 1952. Together, they had two daughters, Renee and Becky. Shirley was a devoted housewife, an excellent cook, and loved to prepare meals for her family. She is well known for her fried potatoes, dumplings, dressing, and chocolate fried pies. She also loved to garden, fish, and camp. Shirley spent countless hours canning vegetables from her garden, driving around with Von checking on their cattle, and humoring him by attending Bluegrass music festivals, which was a love of Von's. Above all else, Shirley loved her family and nothing made her happier than having them over for Sunday supper. She was active in her community, participated in working at her local election site, and filled in as needed as a cook in the school cafeteria. Shirley attended North Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Paron. Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, sister Melva Frederick, son-in-law Russell Garrett, and great-grandsons Chase and Grant Garrett. Left to love and remember her are daughters Renee Garrett and Becky Smith, brother, Dewayne Lambert (Betty), grandson's Corey Garrett (Kami) and Ben (Karleigh) Cantrell, all of Paron; granddaughter's Deena Garner (Nathan) and Rachael Williams (Hunter) of Benton. Shirley has 4 great-grandchildren: Layton Garrett, Mica Garner, Aslyn Garner, and Stella Garner. The family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Heartland Nursing Center for their attentiveness and loving care. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Ashby's. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Bolin Cemetery in Paron. Online guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
