Jackie Alfred "Jack" Mathis

Jackie Alfred "Jack" Mathis, 82, of Canton, Conn. died Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Jack was born Feb. 3, 1936 in North Little Rock, Ark. to Joe Mathis and Ruby Orr Mathis. Jack graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor's degree in business. He began working in the insurance industry and in the early 1970s became the manager of The Hartford's Little Rock claim office. From Little Rock he was transferred to San Antonio, Texas and then Houston, Texas as a result of promotions. He was transferred to The Hartford's home office in Hartford, Conn. in November 1991 where he spent the remainder of his career. Jack retired from The Hartford in June 2002 as Vice President of Claims. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Bill, of New Orleans, La., and his twin brother, Jim, of Sacramento, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, his son, Jackie Jr. "Jay" and his wife, Virginia, of Hot Springs, Ark., his daughter, Kenna Richard and her husband, Frank, of Cumberland, R.I., granddaughter, Jayde Mathis of Little Rock, Ark., grandson, Beau Mathis of North Little Rock, Ark., and three great-grandchildren.
