Otis Dee (O.D.) Burchfield, 79, of Wooster passed away November 9, 2018. He was born May 25, 1939 to the late I.O. and Autie Mae Burchfield of the Pleasant Valley community near Wooster. He was preceded in death by a brother, Defoy Burchfield. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 52 years, Lou Lee Burchfield, and one son, Travis Burchfield and his wife Amy. O.D. had three grandchildren, Lee Burchfield of Fayetteville, Sam Burchfield of Batesville, and Scout Burchfield of the home. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. In the past, he served on the boards of Associated Farmer's Co-op and Faulkner County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Toad Suck Car Club and the Two-Cylinder Tractor Club. O.D. was born on the way to Conway in the Cadron Bottoms and he spent most of his life farming there. O.D. was a lifelong farmer who learned it from his dad and he passed it down it his son. Early in his life he worked at the shoe factory in the winter and farmed in the summer. He also worked on the Titan missile bases. He spent many years raising rice, soybeans and cattle. He endured many floods and droughts as a farmer but he persevered and never lost his love for farming. Later in life O.D. developed a hobby of collecting and restoring antique cars and antique tractors. He enjoyed going to car and tractor shows, and he watched them on television when he couldn't go to them. He planted a much bigger garden than was ever needed because he liked watching things grow. He worked on these hobbies as hard as he did on the farm. He loved dogs and always had plenty of them around, most of them strays and wanderers. As his health declined, he would drive over to the farm in his jeep, park and just enjoy the sights of harvest. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Wooster with Dr. Virgil Porter officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the church. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
