James William "Bill" Chesshir, age 81, of Nashville, Ark., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at his home in Corinth. He was born on March 5, 1937 in Corinth, Ark., the son of the late Walker Jordan and Ruth McClure Chesshir. During his career, Bill served as president of the southwest region for Production Credit Association (Farm Credit). After a brief retirement, he started a second career selling insurance and taking two-hour naps for James Ernest Chandler at Farm Bureau. He never met a stranger, called everybody his friend and truly loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Jane Loyd Chesshir, his first wife and mother of their three children, and by his two sisters, Evelyn Chesshir Brooks and Nelda Chesshir Hawley. Survivors include his wife, Tommye Perry Chesshir of Nashville, Ark.; one daughter, Deborah Chesshir Ponder and husband David of El Dorado, Ark.; two sons, James William "Jay" Chesshir Jr. and wife Lara of Little Rock, Ark., and Bryan Loyd Chesshir and wife Kayla of Nashville, Ark.; one sister, Jerry Chesshir McNutt and husband Jack of Searcy, Ark.; grandchildren, Melanie Ponder Fox and husband Jacob, Hayden Cameron Ponder and wife Tabitha, Hannah Ponder Worthen and husband Dustin, Claire Chesshir Foster and husband Matthew, James William Chesshir III, Samuel Dunn Chesshir, Raegan Porter Chesshir, Walker Jordan Chesshir, and Weller Hutson Chesshir; great-grandchildren, Griffin Bradley Fox, Bailey Jane Fox, Hudson William Fox, and Benjamin James Foster; step-children, Ann Harris of Fayetteville, Ark., Sharron Regauld of Little Rock, Ark., Linda Tyler of Yelleville, Ark., Vasco Martindale of Ft. Worth, Texas, Eugene Patrick Anderson of Ashdown, Ark., and James Kenneth Anderson of Ashdown, Ark.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 18 from 6-8 p.m., at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 at Sunset Church of Christ, with Bryan Chesshir, Jay Chesshir, David Ponder, and Glen Lance officiating.
