Ava Hudson Measels

Ava Hudson Measels, 77, of Carlisle, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 23, 2018. She was born March 12, 1941 in Hazen, Ark. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Carlisle. Ava was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Pauline Hudson, and her brothers, Glenn Hudson and Narris Hudson. Ava is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bobby Measels; her sister, Delores (Bob) Hamric of Hazen; her children, Betty Jones (Fred) of Carlisle, Gina Wilson (Gerry) of Perryville, Amy Terry (Alan) of Paragould and Richard Measels of Carlisle; grandchildren, Drew Conner, Emily Overturf, Rachael Adams, Jacob Adams, Jack Measels and Garrett Measels; and a great-grandson, Jude Adams. Ava loved reading the Bible which she read through many times, going to church whenever the doors were open, quilting, singing in the church choir, and spending time with her family. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the First Baptist Church of Carlisle at 319 South Court Street from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. and burial in the Carlisle Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are Fred Jones, Gerry Wilson, Alan Terry, Drew Connor, Jacob Adams, and Jamie Cunningham. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church.
