JOHN B. BREWCZYNSKI, JR., 85, passed from this life into the next surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born March 24, 1933. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois Brewczynski (Hall), they were married on March 30, 1963, their blended family included six children, Steven Rogers (Ann) of Little Rock, Dianna Southard (Brice), John B. Brewczynski III (Sonja), Teresa Hawkins, Jana Piechocki (John), all of North Little Rock and Angela Covert (Jeff) of Benton; two sisters, Anna Pruss (Daniel) of North Little Rock and Betty Ward (Wesley) of Henderson, Nevada. He and Lois were especially proud of the 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and was looking forward to a new arrival soon. A graduate of North Little Rock High School, John served in the United States Marine Corp and while he worked at many jobs throughout his life, developing several skills he was most proud of his career as a firefighter. John served the Little Rock Fire Department for 40 years, October 1, 1956 to October 7, 1996, reaching the rank of Captain. He enjoyed an exemplary career touching the lives of many in his service and dedication to the City of Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Brewczynski, Sr.; mother, Lessie Mae Brewczynski (Lunn); brother, Joe Brewczynski; sister Laura Foltz and two grandsons, Eric Day and Jacob Hynum. The Little Rock Fire Department Color Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joey Brewczynski, Hal Sutherland, Joe Wright, Johnny Reap, David Perry and Duwane Bentley. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at CARTI for helping us battle cancer and the ICU at Baptist Hospital for the care and comfort in John's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that John be honored by donating to the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial, P.O. Box 56470, Little Rock, Ark., 72215 or the Order of American Fireman, 210 Gaines Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2018 at Freedom Baptist Church of NLR. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park. Online guest register at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
