RUTH WARD EVANS, 93, of Little Rock passed on September 24, 2018. She was born October 24, 1924 to the late Sam Ella and Cleve Ward. Ruth spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose home was filled with loved ones and friends on a daily basis. Ruth was a constant source of nurturing with a shoulder of strength for her family members and their friends. She was a life member of Reed Memorial C. M. E. Church where she served in several capacities of leadership. Ruth was a product of the Little Rock Public Schools having attended South End Elementary School and completing high school at Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. Also, Ruth attended Dunbar Junior College. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, Evanda Evans; her parents; son, Bruce R. Evans (Vickie); brother, Edward Ward; and sister, Vivian Ward Pennymon (late Henry W. Pennymon, Sr.). She is survived by three daughters, Carol D. (Dale) Charles; Vivian L. Evans; and Cheryl A. (Wheeler) Sims; three sons, Edward L. Evans; Charles S. (Barbara) Evans; and Harold L. (Cynthia) Evans; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of Little Rock. Family Hour will be 6-7 p.m. Monday, October 1st at Reed Memorial C. M. E. Church 3101 S. Izard St., Little Rock. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd at Grace Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 3221 S. Gaines Street, Little Rock with Rev. Patsy Wright officiating. Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Ark. Arrangements by Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home. 1200 S. Chester Street, Little Rock, Ark. 501-372-1305. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses, and supporting staff, who provided critical care for our loved one while in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) 4H and 4F at University of Arkansas Medical Center.
