John Emory Williams, 89, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Springdale Health & Rehab. He was born July 8, 1929 in Conway, Ark. to Bessie Davidson Thomas and Robert Levi Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hart Williams. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He and his wife, Lois, were the owners/operators of the Chief Motel and Restaurant in Fayetteville for many years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with his friends at the American Legion Post 27 in Fayetteville. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Williams of Springdale; his son, David Williams (Jean) of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Sam Williams (Charlene) and Harrod Williams of Danville, Ark.; a sister, Margaret Abernathy (Glen) of Bokeelia, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Beard's Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with Chaplain Lance Turner officiating under the direction of Beard's Chapel. Please meet at the funeral home by 10:45 a.m. on Monday for a procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 27, 1195 S.
