Cleon W. Gentry, 94, died April 6, 2019 at the Ark. State Veterans Home at Fayetteville. He was born February 15, 1925 in Lawton, Okla., the son of John Thomas "Jay" and Gladys Allen Gentry. He was a graduate of Elkins High School in 1943. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was employed as a Certified Telephone Office Installer for Western Electric; Ward's Ice Cream Company in Fayetteville; Meadowsweet Dairy in Springdale; McKim L.P. Gas Company and retired from George's L.P. Gas Company. He was a member of the Baldwin Christian Church, First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where he served in several offices and now he was a member of First United Methodist Church of Springdale. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster in Baldwin, Troop 111, First Christian Church in Springdale, he was a member of the Lions Club and the "Walking Blood Bank", attaining the 10-Gallon Red Cross Club Donor. He delivered meals for the Springdale Senior Center. He was a master angler. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Stout and June Caldwell. Survivors include wife Fleeta Gentry; one son, Don Gentry and wife Linda; one daughter, Gayle Batson; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Rev. Judy Van Hoose officiating. Burial will follow in Hester Cemetery in Fayetteville.
