MarJo Thornton Dill, 74, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019. She was born September 10, 1944, in Pine Bluff, daughter of Joseph William "Tex" Thornton and Cynthia Cantrell Thornton. MarJo was reared and received her early education in England, Ark., where she won numerous awards, including being named Miss England High School, and graduated in 1962. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, in 1966. MarJo moved to Pine Bluff after college and began a very successful teaching career at Jenkins. She eventually taught at Broadmoor Elementary School and Jefferson Preparatory School before retiring at Bel Air Elementary School as a 6th grade teacher. She was a faithful and active member of First Presbyterian Church. MarJo was very active in genealogy. She was a member and carried several officer titles in multiple heredity societies including Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of 1812, David O. Dodd Chapter of UDC, Huguenot Society, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Colonial Dames of America and Descendants of Teachers. She was personable, well liked, always had her distinctive smile and voice that, along with having kind words to say about everybody, made people feel better after being in her presence. MarJo was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Robert Dill, whom she married December 29, 1966, in England; son, Ryan Dill of Pine Bluff; and daughter, Callie Dill of Sherwood, Ark. Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff with Reverend John Landis officiating. A reception will follow the service in McColgan Hall. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019, at Mulberry Cemetery in England.
