Richard D. Powell

Richard D. Powell Sr., age 81, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019, born in Quincy, Illinois on July 8, 1937. He was the son of the late Iola Woods. Mr. Powell served our country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1976 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He then worked for Dassault Falcon Jet, retiring in 2000 as a Senior Manager. He was a faithful member of Marshall Road Baptist Church. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara of Jacksonville, sons Donald Cooper of Cabot, Steven Powell (Malinda) of Dardanelle, Richard Powell Jr. (Jane) of Little Rock, and daughter Dianna Thomason (Brent) of Dallas, Texas. Also by two sisters, Donetta (Jack) Hackworth of LaGrange, Missouri and Linda Ellis of Lima, Illinois. He has 11 grandchildren Melissa, Stephen, Shannon, Leanne, Jason, Trey, Kate, Kristen, Max, Caleb, and Josh. Also by nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many relatives and friends. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2018 at Marshall Road Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Smith and Pastor Lance Montalbano officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Marshall Road Baptist Church Building Fund or Youth Ministry.
