Lawrence "Larry" Edward Lee Garner, age 73, of Hot Springs passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 15, 2019. He was born September 28, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wis. to Luther and Flora Guydon Garner. They preceded him in death as well as his brother, Donald Garner; a niece, Casundra Snowden, a close friend, Donald Spadlin. Lawrence attended the Historic Langston High School. He later joined the United States Army where he would make his career. He retired in 1995 as a Sergeant. Lawrence received several medals and awards. He later worked for the City of Hot Springs Street Department. Lawrence was a faithful member of Roanoke Baptist Church having served with the Male Chorus and the Usher Board. He loved to sing. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, dominoes, and talking. Those left to remember him in love includes his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Dorothy Garner of Hot Springs; his children, Lawrence E. Garner (Ann Thomas) of Houston, Texas, Heather Garner and, Jennifer Garner-Watkins (Romanda Watkins) all of Hot Springs; sister, Shirley (Bobby) Owens of Maumelle; 12 grandchildren, John Timothy Anderson, Janesia Garner, Jazmond Anderson, Anteria White, Lawencia Garner, Essence A'maya Smith, Tyretha Mae Lenox, Dawn Garner, Constance Smith, Tacorra Garner, Jaelynn Smith and Aydond Lawrence Garner; four great-grandchildren, Zion, Haven, Alaiya, and Jaquaris; a special cousin, Lawrence (Joyce) Guydon; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends including his best friend, CW2 Donald Edward Lee of Sherwood. A celebration of Lawrence's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Roanoke Baptist Church 231 Whittington Ave., Hot Springs, Ark., with full military honors to follow the service.
