Jerry Wayne Edwards

Jerry Wayne Edwards of Fayetteville passed away on April 18, 2019 at the Arkansas Veterans Home. He was born in Manila, Arkansas on July 31, 1936 to William and Ovie Edwards and was a resident of Fayetteville for 4 years and a prior resident of Harrison for 44 years. He was a member of Central United Methodist in Fayetteville. He served in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman and joined the Arkansas State Police upon discharge. His law enforcement career continued at Harrison as Boone County Chief Deputy Sheriff, Criminal Investigator and Captain, Arkansas Highway Police, Harrison Police Chief, Safety and Security Director for McKesson and 14 years as a Probation Officer for the 14th Judicial District. He is survived by his wife Onna Faye Meredith Edwards, two sons, Robert Wayne Edwards (Jo Lynn) of Collierville, Tennessee and Randall Alan Edwards (Darcy) of Fayetteville; five granddaughters: Sidney Bunyard, Devon Hengst, Tierin Burrow Edwards, Elinor Edwards and Meredith Edwards and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and five sisters. Visitation will be Monday, April 22, 2019 at 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with Funeral Service starting at 2 p.m. Burial with Police Honors and full Military Honors will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
