Sylvia Lou Danforth, 79, of Fayetteville passed away on April 19 in her home. She was born August 4, 1939, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Maxson and Wenonah Williams Kennedy. Sylvia had lived in Fayetteville since 1967. She loved life and lived it fully. Her passionsincludedcaring for beloved dogs and cats over many years, gardening—she was a member of the Fayetteville garden club—bicycling, and walking, especially with a canine companion.Following a short career as an RN, Sylvia worked as a real-estate agent in the area for over 20 years. She was a great bridge partner and was at the center of circles of friends and family, whom she loved and cherished just as much as they loved and cherished her. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Danforth, and her parents. She is survived by one son, Scot Danforth, and his wife, Dawn Chesser, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters: Leigh Danforth and her fiance'e, Elaine King, of Fayetteville and Allison Danforth of Denver, Colo.; two brothers: Robert Kennedy and his wife, Kathleen, of Great Bend, KS, and Richard Kennedy of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandsons: Matthew and Isaac McKimmey and William and Christopher Giese; and her longtime companion, Jerry Boyd, of Fayetteville. The Danforth family will welcome and greet friends at an open house at the family home on Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Washington County Animal Shelter will be gratefully appreciated.
