Frank Ellis, 93, of DeWitt died Friday, August 2, 2019. He was born January 18, 1926 in Pocahontas, AR to J. Frank and Winnie James Ellis. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After serving in the war, Frank attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. He graduated with a degree in agriculture. After graduating, he served as an extension service agent for Arkansas County. Frank retired from DeWitt Bank & Trust as the trust officer. He was also a member of the DeWitt Lions Club. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Carol Ellis; his parents; two brothers Percy and Russell Ellis; four sisters Ann Wallace, Martha Edwards, Fannie Broadway, and Mary Simpson. He is survived by his sons Robert Ellis of DeWitt and Ronald Ellis and his wife Karen of Barling, AR; two stepchildren Jim Ferguson and his wife Rita and Julie Simpson and her husband C.W. all of DeWitt; six grandchildren Beth Phillips (Zach) and Brock Ellis both of Barling, AR, Trenton Ellis of Austin, TX, Cortney Sisco (Mike) of Fayetteville, and Matthew and Michael Ferguson both of DeWitt; five great grandchildren Annabelle and Waverley Phillips, Amelia Sisco, and Ava and Ella Ferguson; one brother Dan Ellis of Pocahontas, AR; and two sisters Fern Coonce of Tulsa, OK and Louise Simpson of Searcy, Ark. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 4 at Essex Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens. www.essexfuneralhome.com.
