Harold C. "Rod" Ramsey

Harold C. "Rod" Ramsey, age 79, of Benton, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2019. He was born April 30, 1940 in Bauxite, Arkansas to T.V. (Bud) & Lola Ramsey. Rod met his wife, Martha E. Ballard Ramsey of Benton, at Saline Memorial Hospital while working in the Maintenance Department and she was working in Central Supply. They dated one year and then got married April 27, 1962 at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church where Bro. Curtis Kyle was the pastor. Rod was saved and baptized in 1963. He served in the Army Reserves and retired from Alcoa in 2001 after 31 years. Rod was a member of Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church. He loved to hunt & fish and after retiring, he enjoyed going to the Bait Shop every morning and having coffee with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Lucy Ramsey Jeanes (Grady), T.J. Ramsey (Margaret Johnson), Edwin Ramsey, Wayne Ramsey (Mickey), Barbara Ramsey Camp (Farris), Janie Ramsey Campbell (Latham) and Francis Ramsey. Rod is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Ramsey; three sons, Chuck Ramsey and his two daughters, Alyx & Peyton Ramsey, Greg Ramsey and his two sons, Dawson & Chase Ramsey, and Tommy Ramsey and his family; sister, Martha Ramsey Bradshaw (Homer) and a brother, Gary Ramsey (Nanette). Pallbearers will be Mark Campbell, Mike Campbell, Kevin Campbell, Keith Camp, Chris Ramsey, Jeff Ramsey, Kelly Shamlin and Bill Lancaster. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 7 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Pine Crest Memorial Park.
