Frances Jeanne Stender

Frances Jeanne Stender, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019. Jeanne was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Cotton Plant, Ark., to John W. Crabtree Jr. and Stella Frances Boone Crabtree. She attended school in Clarendon graduating in 1954. After her dad suffered a heart attack, Jeanne had to drop out of Arkansas State Teacher's College and went to work for Jim Bisbee. After her husband took a job at Pine Bluff, she worked at First Ward Elementary School. In 1969 the family moved to Little Rock where she worked for PCSSD as secretary to Special Education retiring in 2000. They moved to Clarendon in late 2015. Jeanne accompanied her husband of many mission trips to 13 states and one foreign trip. She was involved with Campers on Missions and Rock Builders and various others positions in her church. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clarendon. Survivors are her husband, Charles Stender; son, Charles Stender Jr. and wife Rose of Mayflower; daughter, Paula F. Bass and husband Phillip of Bryant; her grandsons, John Charles (Victoria) of Tuttle, Okla., and Paul Langley (Melanie) of Mayflower; her granddaughter, Cayla JeLin Bass of Bryant; and great-grandsons, Wyatt Charles of Tuttle, Okla., and Brody Langley of Mayflower. Visitation is 9 a.m. Saturday with funeral services, officiated by Rev. Joe Loncar, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
