Margaret Johnson

Margaret Johnson resident of Augusta, Arkansas departed this earth on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the age of 83. She was born on December 31, 1935 in Point Pleasant, Missouri. Margaret attended Carlisle Schools where she was involved with the Carlisle Alumni Club and a member of a special group of friends called the Carlisle Girls. She was a member of the Augusta Business & Professional Women's Club for many years and was a committed member of the Augusta First Baptist Church. Margaret married Lynville Johnson on February 10, 1962 and they had one daughter, Paulette Johnson Shields. Lynville and Margaret worked their entire married life together being owner and operators of Cothern's Department Store of Augusta for 30 years. Her family was the love of her life and after she retired she spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elvie Marcotte, one sister, Ruby Marcotte Hardke, her Uncle Carl Tanner and a nephew, Nagel Britt. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lynville Johnson of Augusta, one daughter, Paulette Shields and husband Danny of Augusta, one granddaughter, Lesley Norton and husband Phillip of McCrory, one grandson, Sonny Shields and wife Monica of Kivilina, Alaska, four great-grandsons, Drew Shields of Jonesboro, Eli Norton of McCrory, Brick Shields of Kivilina, Alaska, Logan Akers of Jonesboro, a special Aunt Vivian Britt of Cabot, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 17th at the Augusta First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Augusta Memorial Park.
