Pastor Paul H. Jilg Sr., 89, of Little Rock, passed away August 18, 2019. Born June 1, 1930 in York, Nebraska to Pastor George and Amelia Porath Jilg, he graduated from St. Paul High School in Concordia, Missouri and Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois. Following his ordination into the ministry in 1956, he served the parishes of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gillett and St. Luke Lutheran Church in DeWitt. In 1967, he was called to shepherd the congregation at Peace Lutheran in Des Moines, Iowa, and in 1976, he pastored Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He retired in 1995 after serving as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Darlene Jilg, he is survived by his son, Paul H. Jilg Jr. (Patty) of Little Rock; daughter, Suann Renee Clayton (Stan) of Hot Springs; brother, Donald Jilg of Warren, Ohio; sister, Grace Palmer of Baltimore, Maryland; four grandchildren, Susan Jilg, Robyn Robb (James), Carrie Ghaharian (Kaz) and Bryan Clayton; two great-grandchildren, Charlie Robb and Camden Ghaharian; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, August 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. James C. Walter. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gillett.
