Dennis Mercer

Dennis Lynn Mercer, age 72, of Rogers, passed away Saturday December 21, 2019, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. He was born January 13, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Thomas and Doris Hightower Mercer. He served with honor in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Dennis had a passion for racing; he built and drove race cars for many years as well as owned a racetrack. He retired from the trucking industry after a long and successful career. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Wilkerson; one daughter, Amy Mercer of Oklahoma City; and one son, Roger Mercer and his wife Dawn of Oklahoma City, Okla. He had four step-children, Matt Wilkerson and his wife Kristina of Dallas, Texas; Danielle Phillips and her husband Eric of Bentonville, Ark.; Aaron Wilkerson and his wife Jenni Jones of Bentonville, and Jonathon Schwenke; one sister, Nancy Ames of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Jerry Mercer of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday December 30, 2019, at Moore's Chapel with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
