Shirley Ann Hudgins

Shirley "Granny" Ann Johnson Hudgins, age 81, of Glenwood, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. She was born on August 22, 1937 in Kirby, the daughter of Claude Clifton Johnson and Amy Dell Mitchell Johnson. On August 20, 1956, she was married to the love of her life, Mark Hudgins, who preceded her in death on January 25, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Alice Ames. Shirley, or "Granny" to so many, loved being with her family, working with her flowers and playing the piano. She always enjoyed fishing when she had the opportunity and she was a faithful member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by four sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Deborah Hudgins, Ricky Hudgins, Rodney Hudgins and Roger Hudgins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Chris Johnson and Ellen and Joe Moreland, all of Glenwood; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard L. "Bud" Johnson of Delavan, Illinois and Mike Johnson of Glenwood; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Juanita Tackett of Glenwood and Marilyn and Gus Cook of Birmingham, Alabama; and a host of extended family and friends. Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Shewbart and Bro. Keith Howell officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the church. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew Hulsey and staff, Dr. Fred Divers and staff and the staff of DaVita Dialysis. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
