Donald Merlyn Persels

Donald Merlyn Persels, age 87, of Bella Vista passed away peacefully February 19, 2019 at his home with his wife Barbara. Donald was born April 10, 1931 the son of Ernest and Sarah Ruby (Gordon) Persels. Donald grew up in Osceola, Iowa. He entered the Air Force in 1950 as an Electronics Technician. He continued his education at Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara Wiens. Donald and Barbara made their home in Mulvane, Kansas. His love of electronics led him to open Mulvane Radio and TV selling, serving all types of electronics, tvs, radio, stereos, satellite dishes and computers. He was devoted to his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the source of much happiness and joy for him. In his spare time he was active in church and loved playing golf. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jorene Jones Black. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara; sons, David (Ruth) and Donald Mark (Sue); daughters, Elizabeth (Mark) Clarkson and Melissa (Phil) Tanner; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 22nd at Bella Vista Church of Christ with Mr. Randall Caselman officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
