Lois Walker Branton

LOIS WALKER BRANTON passed away on Dec. 22, 2018. She was born in Little Rock, Ark., on Oct. 20, 1927, to George and Eula Allen Walker. Lois is pre-deceased by her parents, brother George, husband Raymond W. Branton, son Raymond Jr., daughter Amelia, and granddaughter Sarah. She is survived by her daughter Laurel Bakken (Kerry), granddaughter Madeline Branton, grandson Peter Branton (Andrea), great-granddaughter Isabella, and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Lois and Ray were married on Jan. 1, 1949, and celebrated 65 happy years together. Lois enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading, and watching the birds at the feeders. Lois graduated from Little Rock Senior High School, Little Rock Junior College, UA Fayetteville with an MFA, and the UALR Bowen School of Law with a JD. She was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, a Rotarian, and a Paul Harris Fellow. Lois worked in banking for 46 years. After her graduation from law school, she managed Trust accounts. Through the years, she volunteered her time to many community groups, including PTA, American Cancer Society, Laman Library, and the Altar Guild at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. A family service was officiated by The Very Rev. Dr. Christoph Keller, III. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, or the UAMS Cancer Institute.
