JAMES DONAD "DON" CAMPBELL was born June 1, 1925 in Mountain View, Arkansas to James Thurman and May Lackey Campbell. Having a servant spirit, he began his adult life by serving his country and finished by serving his Lord and ministering to those around him. In May 1943, he left Mountain View to join the Army Air Corps and by the end of WWII he was a rated B-25 pilot and had been selected to become a P-38 fighter pilot. Following the war, he attended Hendrix College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He married Margaret Ane Cain in 1954 in Little Rock and they had four children, Cathy, Carol, Jim, and Martha. In addition to Little Rock, they lived for a time in El Dorado and Pine Bluff, as well as Yazoo City, Mississippi, and Amite, Louisiana. They returned to Little Rock in 2010 where Margaret Ane predeceased him after over 56 years of marriage. In his professional career he worked for various companies as an accountant, auditor, and comptroller. Following his retirement from professional life, he was ordained and served as priest of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Amite, Louisiana. By studying directly under the instruction of the Bishop, he was the first priest in the Diocese of Louisiana ever to be ordained by studying outside a seminary. In addition to his church duties, he also served as both a prison and a hospice chaplain, until his declining health resulted in his final retirement at the age of 85. He departed to his heavenly home on December 20, 2018; he died peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
