Jack Richard Woods

Jack Richard Woods, 88, of Higden, Ark. peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2019. Jack was born on September 25, 1930 in Pine Bluff, Ark. He was a football Letterman at Watson Chapel High School where he graduated. Jack served with the Arkansas National Guard for eight years. He then went on to work for Allied/General Chemical for 44 years. After retirement, he and his family built his dream house on Greers Ferry Lake. He started a family construction business completing multiple houses and projects in the Greers Ferry area. Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley Matthews Woods; his children, Dr. Luanne Woods Lewis and Jim and Carol Woods; his grandchildren, Sanders and Layne Lewis, Bryce Woods, Dr. Matthew Woods and Dr. Jennifer Brown Woods; his siblings, Don and Linda Woods, Ben and Kay Woods, Ellis Price, James T. Matthews; his loving nieces and nephews and many friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe R. and Mary T. Woods; his sisters, Mary Jo Woods and Lois Helen Woods Price. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Holiday Hills United Methodist Church in Greers Ferry, Ark. Visitation with the family will be at 10 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m., and the graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Holiday Hills United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home. www.olmstead.cc
