Nancy P. Savage, 88, of Rogers, Arkansas died peacefully at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas on January 19, 2019. She was born February 13, 1930 to Sidney Martin Puryear and Lois Ellene Anderson Puryear in Wetumka, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Howard H. (Hal) Savage, in 2012 and by her parents and her only sister, Kathryn Sue Puryear Simpson. Nancy graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1952 where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and received a degree in Elementary Education. Nancy was passionate about education, including the importance of early childhood education. With a friend and the support of the First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, Illinois, she founded Ottawa Opportunity School in 1968 which recently celebrated its 50 year anniversary. She was also instrumental in the formation and leadership of Get Set! preschool at the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers. Nancy was a Christian Educator, Stephen Minister, served in numerous capacities at church and was an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women. She was a committed P.E.O. member and enjoyed sewing, quilting and needlework as well as time around the bridge table with friends. Nancy loved to cook and entertain and was often the first to show up with a casserole for those in need. Nancy is survived by her three children, Thomas H. (Margot) Savage of Lowell, Theresa K. (Greg) Brue of Rogers and Susan M. (Robert) Inich of Basehor, Kansas and her seven grandchildren, Thomas E. Savage (Misheil), Lauren M. Bloss, Michael E. Savage (Amanda Burris), Jason H. Brue (Stacy), David G. Brue (Teneka Steward), Alyssa M. Dye (Brandon) and Melanie K. Wall (Kelcei Glasgow) as well as five great-grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin Bloss, Abigail Brue, Brock and Dawson Dye. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles B. Daniel and numerous nieces and nephews. Services and interment will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 with visitation in the Narthex at 10 a.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bright Horizons Early Learning Center c/o First Presbyterian Church of Rogers, 1901 South 26th Street or to Ottawa Opportunity School, 114 E.
