Howard Lee Chism

Howard Lee Chism, age 78, of Hattieville, Arkansas, passed from this life to his eternal home Wednesday, January 23, 2019. He was born March 25, 1940 in Hattieville, Arkansas, a son of William Archie Chism and Rose Mildred Zachary Chism. He was a U.S. Marine and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber after 30 years. A great outdoorsman, Howard spent time hunting, fishing, and trapping. And if it came from a seed, he would try to grow it! He especially loved his tomatoes and watermelons. Other favorite pastimes include, feeding squirrels and deer, watching the hay balers and front porch sittin. He was well loved by many, but most of all by his wife, Cheryl and daughters Valerie and Michelle. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Helton Chism of Hattieville; daughters, Valerie Chism of Hattieville and Michelle Chism of Manheim, Pennsylvania; brother, Carl (Debbie) Chism of Atkins; sister-in-laws, Ann Chism of Jerusalem and Mary Joyce Chism of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Chism and Billy Chism; and sister, Betty Ruth Chism. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at the Harris Chapel with Pastor Doug McClure and Rev. David Overstreet officiating.
