BENNY LEE TURNER, 80,of Jacksonville passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from complications due to heart and kidney failure. Benny was raised in NLR and graduated from NLR High in 1956. Many remember him as a baseball coach, the owner of Turner Transmission Service, a stock car enthusiast instrumental in bringing the NHRA to Little Rock in 1959, a member of the Arkansas Quarter Horse Association and the private pilot to William Dillard Sr., which took him around the world and back! Mr. Turner is survived by wife, Betty Turner and sister Janice Squires. Other survivors include children Sherry & Earl Muehlfarth of St. Louis, Michael & Loywanna Turner of White Hall, and Karen & Cisco Hobbs of Austin; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Bastian and Benjamin Goldstein (wife Resa); and his great-granddaughters, Dagny & Essie. Visitation being held Wednesday, January 30th, 5pm to 8pm at Rest Hills in Sherwood, followed by Funeral Service at Rest Hills on Thursday, January 31st at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Jacksonville Animal Shelter.
