Ruby Lea James Nalley, 83, of Benton, passed away on January 28, 2019. She was born on November 24, 1935 to the late Harvey and Bessie Harris. Ruby was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton and began her piano playing days at the age of three. She became the pianist at Kentucky Baptist Church at the age of 11. Ruby was an enthusiastic piano player for various churches and gospel groups. She was always a good mother, grandmother and true friend. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Roland James and Johnny Nalley; son, Roger James, and great-grandson, Hyatt Ray. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Fischer and husband, Steve, sons, Jerry James and wife, Patsy, Gary James and wife, Renee, Kenny Nalley and wife, Lolita, Doyle Nalley and wife, Carolyn; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Wes Toler, Joshua James, Jordan Ray, Caleb Fischer, Jared Toler, Nick James, Steve James, Ron James, Drake Toler and Aaron James. Church services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Gipson and Dr. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ashbys, Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
