Nelda Edmonds Baker

Nelda Edmonds Baker closed her book of life peacefully on July 28, 2019. Nelda's fondness for talking about her childhood is well-founded. Born in Anahuac, Texas on November 21, 1947, to Odean Busbea Edmonds and Jame H. (Bud) Edmonds, Nelda's young years were spent on the family rice farm surrounded by aunt and uncles, cousins and friends. She was a daddy's girl who was changed forever when he suddenly died in 1956. Her mother moved her and her younger sister to Little Rock that same year and then to North Little Rock to be near maternal family and friends. Nelda attended Garland and Riverside Elementary Schools, Ridge Road Jr. High and finally North Little Rock High School. The happiest years of her adult life were spent on a Phoenix, Arizona horse ranchette with her beloved husband Tom who preceded her in death. Moving back to North Little Rock after Tom's death, Nelda worked at Kroger until her retirement. She was an avid reader since a very young age. She also made beautiful dresses and crocheted pieces. Many remember Nelda for her love of a cold beer, a lighted cigarette and a good conversation that included a joke or two. Nelda's love of animals was evident in her long list of adopted pets. Her cute dog Chewy died a few years ago, but her sweet cat Nosey Rosie survives her and is being re-homed. In lieu of flowers, please raise a cold one to Nelda and if you can, please make a donation in her memory to the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72210. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hubble-Delk Levy Memorial VFW Post 11474. Arrangements entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Nelda's online guestbook is available at www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com.
