Arno L. Ponder

Colonel (Ret) Arno L. Ponder, age 89, passed away May 29, 2019 at Maumelle. He was the only child of Arno and Buren Ponder of Poplar Bluff, Mo. both deceased. He was born at Doniphan, Mo. on October 16, 1929. He retired after 31 years of service in the US Army, which included the Vietnam and Korea Wars. Colonel Ponder is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Avery Ponder, and two children by a former marriage, Mitchell Sanford Ponder and Lori Ann Ponder. Other survivors are three stepchildren, Gregory Hurlock and wife Paige and their children, Ashley, Kolin, Natalie; Doctor (neuropsychologist) Shanna Marie Kurth and husband Rodney and children, Taney, Nate, Alex, Ryan and Randi; and Mark Hurlock and wife Kirra and two children, Avery and Mackinzie. He also leaves 10 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and many friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Natalie Williams. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Poplar Bluff, Mo. A private service is planned. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Gift Processing, P.O.
