Jo Ann Carson

Jo Ann Carson, the daughter of Odie and Mary Ada Miller, was born in Lexa, Arkansas on August 9, 1936 and passed away peacefully at home in Heber Springs, Arkansas on June 13, 2019 at the age of 82 years. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and soon after married her husband Jack Carson. They shared 56 years together until his death in 2015. She had a long professional career as a home economics teacher and store manager, while frequently utilizing her considerable skills in the kitchen to the delight of her family, friends and neighbors. Jo Ann was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs. She lovingly supported her family, friends and community throughout her life and was returned that same support and love. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, and her brother Frank Miller of West Helena, Arkansas. She is survived by her son Jarett Carson, his wife Camilla, and their granddaughter Jemma (who brought joy to Jo Ann's later years) of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in addition to many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs, 201 North Fourth Street, Heber Springs, Arkansas, 72543. A visitation will commence on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church and funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. by Rev. Marty Sykes.
