Jewel B. Spurlock, 81, of Judsonia died June 19, 2019 at his home in Judsonia surrounded by his family. He was born April 17, 1938 in Williford, Arkansas in Sharp County. He was the son of the late Palmer B. Spurlock and Elsie Davis Spurlock. Jewel was a master electrician and owner of Spurlock, Inc. He served 35 years on the Judsonia City Council, 4 years on the Arkansas State Contractors Licensing Board, Ouachita Girl Scout Council Board, and a period as President of the National Bird Hunters Association. He was a member of the Judsonia Church of Christ. Jewel was an avid horse and cattleman. He always enjoyed running his bird dogs and driving around his farm. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Mary McAdams Spurlock; a son Mitchell Spurlock of Judsonia, a daughter Paula "Polly" Benton (Tony) of Searcy, grandchildren Tara Wallace (Eric) of Searcy; Jewel Wesley Benton (Ashton) of Judsonia; Samantha Mercer (Tyler) of Rose Bud; Palmer Spurlock of Rose Bud; and step-grandson, Eric Camp (Melissa) of Judsonia; great-grandchildren, Kambrie and Kelbi Wallace, Ellie Benton, and Braelyn Camp. He is also survived by one brother, Bill Spurlock (Syble) of Searcy, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and former fellow workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herman B. Spurlock and one sister, Evelyn Arnzen Grimsley. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 4 p.m. at the Judsonia Church of Christ with interment following in the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Judsonia Church of Christ or Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia.
