Vance N. (Noel) Elder

Vance N. (Noel) Elder, age 95 of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away June 11, 2019. He was born in Hutchinson, Kan. on December 25, 1923 to Tom and Mae Shaw Elder. Vance graduated from the University of Kansas with a Professional Engineering degree. Mr. Elder and his brother John was the owners of ABC Plumbing and Heating of Springdale and the founders of Multicraft Contractors which he and his brother John owned and operated for many years later selling it to his employees. He served on several Boards at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Springdale and was involved in the construction of St. Thomas. Vance was an Original Charter Member of Trout's Unlimited in Northwest Arkansas. Mr. Elder was one of the pilots of the 507 Fighter Group during WWII. This was the only P-47 flight group in the Pacific to be honored with the Distinguished Unit Citation. Vance was preceded in death by his parents as well as his first wife, Jean Elder and second wife, Kathryn Tippet Elder. Mr. Elder is survived by his wife, Onita Copeland Elder, and children: Cynthia Pecarovich, Nancy Schwan, Tom Elder, Rick Elder, and Vance R. Elder. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, June 22, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Springdale.
