Franklin Laverne "Vern" Davis

Franklin Laverne "Vern" Davis, 91 of Little Rock went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. He was born January 12, 1928 in Sidney, Arkansas, the oldest of Hayden Roger Davis and Virgie Zella Weaver Davis. He helped his father on the family farm and graduated from Sidney High School in 1945. Vern enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and was given a medical discharge after a bout with rheumatic fever. He attended Arkansas Tech University and Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas). After a career in the receiving departments at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Little Rock, Vern became a full-time piano tuner and technician, combining his work with his love of music. He was a gifted pianist and singer. Vern was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Little Rock, where he sang in the choir. He was an avid gardener and loved to travel. He and his wife, Suanna, traveled to more than 100 countries and territories around the globe. Vern was predeceased by his parents and by his wife of 39 years, Suanna Jeanette Flake Davis. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Davis Hill of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Burnau of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Earlene Johnson of Arlington, Texas and Jean Schnelle of Lockwood, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and other extended family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Arkansas Hospice at CHI St. Vincent for the loving and compassionate care they provided Vern in recent months. A visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark.
